Minimum of 5 years experience administering Unix (Linux/Solaris) systems in a production environment

Responsibilities:

• Serve as technical escalation point for production issues for NOC team and help drive quick resolution for site incidents and monitoring alerts
• Perform regular capacity reviews for LinkedIn application stack and perform upgrades as required to scale with traffic 
• Develop Scripts, tools and automation required for site operation and day to day incident management
• Build and release software code for LinkedIn application stack to pre-production and production environments
• Drive or participate in technical design and operational acceptance exercises for new services with Engineering and SRE teams
• Building knowledge base and documentation for day to day operational tasks for the team
• Collaborate with engineering and other Production operations teams on ongoing projects and technical initiatives
• Become proficient in understanding LinkedIn application stack and Business operation flow end to end, how all services and configurations link together
• Work with Application Operations management and team to create high-level roadmaps and team strategy

Minimum Requirements:

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Prior experience leading teams of engineers in a technical capacity
• Minimum of 5 years experience administering Unix (Linux/Solaris) systems in a production environment
• Advanced knowledge of Unix system and network administration, TCP/IP and Web services
• Proficient in any one of these scripting languages: Shell, Python or Perl
• Self motivated and be able independently lead the team with minimum supervision
• Strong organization and multi-tasking abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Quick learner and be able to adapt to new technologies quickly
• Must have a deep understanding of building and managing large scale web infrastructure, Load balancing, virtualization etc
• Prior experience with large scale Release, configuration management and software deployment

Desired Skills:

• Experience working in a 24 x 7, large-scale Internet web environment
• Prior experience working with Java/J2EE application stack
